As part of way of life of the people across the world, memories of moments and experiences are often captured for pleasure, lessons and records. In the past, moments and experiences (both beautiful and ugly) were recorded through sculpturing and drawings (artistic) which had a photographic effects in the mind of the people. These sculptures and drawings served as memorabilia, artifacts and traditions passed from one generation to another.
As civilization came into emerging generations, measures were developed to further enhance great memories of moments and experiences, this led to the invention of a gadget (item) that could be used to capture these likely moments and experiences. This gadget called camera was invented by Johann Zahn in 1685, but the first photograph was clicked by Joseph Nicephore Niepce in the year 1814. It was thousands of years back that an Iraqi Scientist Ibn- al- Haytham made a mention of this kind of a device in his book, Book of Optics in 1021, this invention brought loads of meaningful visual records of events, moments and experiences and helped the emerging generations visualized how life used to be and how civilization had improved the people and their lives. One of the greatest inventions of all times is the camera (photo & video), it helps capture all beautiful and challenging moments, gives memories of all our loved ones thereby making us improve our daily lives to surpass records.
NZILANI FESTIVAL is a celebration of the Art of Photography. Nzilani is an African (East Africa) name for a child delivered while the mother embarks on a journey, this kind of occurrence gives the family of such child and the community long lasting memories that are photographically recorded in the minds of the people. The name was adopted to promote the art of Photography which helps the people have memories of their best moments and experiences.
