“Addressing the economic challenges of COVID-19 in rural communities in Africa”.

POINTS OF DISCUSSION:

• Hunger
• Crime
• Government policies
• Funding
• Tradition

COVID-19 has upended many lives in the past few months, but what impact will it have on our rural communities? There are questions being asked about the viability of food scarcity, hunger, crime, traditional leaders roles in the rural communities and the sweeping executive powers some governments policies used unfavourably to the common man. More fundamentally, the pandemic is testing the strength and resilience of the African people.

African Economic Merit Awards, will present all shared information to the below government and non government bodies to help solve issues battling the African people.

BODIES:
Oxfam, International Monetary Fund, African Union, Ecowas and United Nations.

The King Bungane III of the Embo Kingdom Africa, is to discuss the traditional impacts of COVID-19 on the African people. Mallence Bart-Williams will share her view on the government policies introduced but not implemented by the government and how the African communities can hold their government representatives accountable with funds allocated to them.
Hamzat Lawal will guide us on how the African people can hold the government accountable in providing the promised basic amenities, promised to the people before they became their representatives in bringing development to the communities.
McEva Temofe will lead through all sessions, ask the speakers important questions to connect with the public and bring on the public perspective.
Williams Shongwe, Dr. Sheriff Gali Ibrahim, Thembi Fofana and Efemena Silva will let us in on their humanitarian journey on how Covid-19 has brought more poverty to communities and how government swift intervention can reduce death from hunger and rise in crime.
